I'm sticking out!

Wow, you, little baby, are making my belly stick out like crazy already! Only 7-1/2 weeks old, and already the size Gardner "appeared" when I was 14 weeks along!

I can't believe you already have a little face, little transparent skin and tiny little veins. I can't believe that I am carrying another life inside of me.

I have felt yucky today, but again, that's just consolation that things are going as they should. I enjoy every part of this, even the "ugh" part. You're worth it.

I just finished forcing myself to swallow down the rest of my Ensure Healthy Mom chocolate-chocolate-chip snack bar . At first bite: "Mm. Chocolatey." At second bite: "Mm. Kinda crunchy." At third bite: "Hm. Tastes a little stale." At fourth bite: "I'm not so much liking this anymore." At fifth bite: "OK. I've had enough of this. When will it be gone?" And so it begins

I am currently in week five, day two of my pregnancy. I believe it has hit....that is, morning sickness. Last night I had the most horrendous onslaught of backseat-of-the-car-on-curvy-mountain-roads nausea....ugh. It has remained today for the most part. Whenever I feel a fleeting moment of hunger, I fill it asap. If I don't, I'll pay for it later (and sometimes I might even after eating). I hope this isn't a bad sign that this is starting one week earlier than it did with Gardner. I am currently wearing SeaBands and drinking fresh ginger ale like nobody's business. I am also praying for either relief or the ability to handle what's to come. I hate feeling sick...hate it, hate it. I mean, probably ten times more than most other people. Yet I have to remind myself that this quesiness is a good thing....in that it means my body is doing its job helping this new little baby grow and develop, forming organs and starting up his or her little heartbeat. Room for you

Yesterday, I started on the "renovation" of the nursery to outfit it for a little girl. I finished some tasks left undone (such as painting a 2nd coat of paint on the trim and windows) as well as assisted Ken as he raised the crib mattress back to newborn level. It seems like just yesterday that we were doing that in anticipation of Gardner's arrival! I had forgotten how much prettier a crib looks with a bumper pad in it. I bought some Zantac today to hopefully help with my heartburn. It has gotten so bad that some nights, I'm forced to sleep sitting up in bed, the taste and feel of acid always at the back of my throat. Not fun! But if this is the most of my complaints, I don't have it bad at all, and I realize that full well.
