Things I'm thankful for today

I was just commenting to my friend Sara yesterday that queasiness hasn't knocked on my door yet, except for a few fleeting visits that made me wonder if it was even really IT. Well, today proved me wrong. I let myself get too hungry, and BAM. So, in no certain order, here are the things I've been thankful for today, this 41st day of my pregnancy: 1. high-potency ginger ale 2. a dark, quiet room 3. SeaBands 4. high-potency ginger ale 5. a super-sensitive husband who offered to go to the grocery store for me tonight 6. a semi-stopped up nose so that my sense of smell is just a teenitsy-bit dampened 7. high-potency ginger ale 8. the realization that this, too, shall pass (Ken says that this yuckiness I feel just means that all the sourness and bitterness is working out of the new baby, so that only sweetness remains....just like with Gardner. :)

What's on the Menu?.....Then and Now

Since my cravings and aversions have officially begun, I decided it'd be a great keepsake to write down and take note of all of the things that I craved or was deterred by food-wise with my first pregnancy, and now this one. Funny how the books are right....two pregnancies are more than likely not the same....in fact, they're totally opposite in most cases. So much for predictions and preparedness. CRAVINGS with FIRST PREGNANCY: - Anything sweet, namely ice cream - Corn dogs - Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes - Cheese (namely sharp cheddar) - Chocolate pudding - Olive Garden's cappellini pomodoro AVERSIONS with FIRST PREGNANCY: - All fruit - Anything with dill in it - All raw vegetables (especially broccoli....blech!), and most cooked vegetables - Chicken (all forms, all flavors, all.) CRAVINGS with CURRENT PREGNANCY: - Anything salty or sour - Anything greasy (I know, this is totally out of character for me)....chips, fried foods, pizza - Peanut M&M's - Tomato-based

Under the weather

I have been in and out of the bed for two days with a fever, sore throat, and stuffy head and nose. I am limited on what I can take while pregnant, so it has been creativity which has given me things to ease my symptoms....hot showers, herbal bath gels, lots of sleep. I try not to worry about the baby....I know that my fever would have to go much higher than 99.6 to cause problems. Yet there's always concern when there's a baby involved when you are ill...especially since these next couple of weeks are the most crucial as far as neural and cardiac development go. I reached my 6 weeks point yesterday. No morning sickness...yet. But the food aversions are definitely there. It is a struggle to find something which my tongue wants to accept willingly. Thank goodness for salty foods....that is what I'm craving this time around! I have begun thinking of baby names a little this week. Though I haven't run it by Ken, I am really liking the name Samuel for a boy. Girls n

And so it begins

I am currently in week five, day two of my pregnancy. I believe it has hit....that is, morning sickness. Last night I had the most horrendous onslaught of backseat-of-the-car-on-curvy-mountain-roads nausea....ugh. It has remained today for the most part. Whenever I feel a fleeting moment of hunger, I fill it asap. If I don't, I'll pay for it later (and sometimes I might even after eating). I hope this isn't a bad sign that this is starting one week earlier than it did with Gardner. I am currently wearing SeaBands and drinking fresh ginger ale like nobody's business. I am also praying for either relief or the ability to handle what's to come. I hate feeling sick...hate it, hate it. I mean, probably ten times more than most other people. Yet I have to remind myself that this quesiness is a good thing....in that it means my body is doing its job helping this new little baby grow and develop, forming organs and starting up his or her little heartbeat. That'

Site relocation

In preparation for the new baby, the Gardner's baby blog address has been changed to http://gardnerwilson.blogspot.com . Please change your links. This address, http://babywilson.blogspot.com , will be reassigned to the newest member of the Wilson clan, Baby #02. I (Ken) will be rebuilding Meg's bank of blogs soon (read: this weekend, hopefully) to accomodate the new blog addresses. Thanks, Mgt.
